Ideas from meeting

Neal Bluel's picture

After meeting with the New Harvest Cafe on curriculuar initiatives and next steps, I have made some interesting connections with students interested in farming through Growing America. These students have begun to plan a perennial garden/permiculture system in the front of Linden McKinley. This site will be a great first step while construction begins on the new school and can have a small group of students lead the way into this new program being developed. Students like being on the ground floor of projects.

 Hello!

Attached please find my un-professional “so long I needed to pull the plug on myself” rant/video!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNv-veKyDTE

I felt compelled to quickly tell Jamie how much I appreciate his work and how impressed I am with his courage and willingness to help our children with his Food Revolution.

Cleveland has a strong and diverse culinary tradition.  In order to expand on this tradition, as well as encourage small business growth and sustainable business practices, activate public spaces, promote local artists, and facilitate the availability of healthy local food options, the City of Cleveland looks to establish a Sustainable Street Food Pilot Program.  Partners include the City, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Public Art, Charter One Bank and PlayhouseSquare.

Phase one of the kitchen incubator will include use of a licensed kitchen for baked goods and small volume commercial and startup catering activities. The Food Hub building - the former Penguin Pub north of YSU campus at 901 Elm in Youngstown - is being retrofitted in stages. We hope for late May or early June startup.

Phase two will include flash freezing and fresh vegetable preparation and packaging, for 2012.

Phase three, funding permitting, will include thermal processing.
